About Paul Bonetti

35+ years experience developing software for energy utilities. During my career I have developed, tested and supported software in Cobol, C, C++, Java, Perl, HTML at Westernpower (and its predecessors), in environments ranging from standalone PC GUI, multithreaded and distributed server systems, IBM mainframes, web servers, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SCADA systems. Database experience includes DB2, mySql, SQL Server, and most recently Oracle 19 and Postgres. I have worked with many methodologies, with Agile being de rigueur at Westernpower. I have skills for integrating systems using SOAP, RESTful service, materialised views, and traditional methods such as FTP and scripts, and skills for integrating business users with data. In my current role, PowerOn Advantage is one endpoint for integration. I've spent 17+ years working with and integrating with ENMAC and then PowerOn Fusion/Advantage. These are my specialties: Oracle, SQL, SQL tuning, backend transaction processing, parallel processing, C++, Perl, JavaScript, PowerOn Advantage, data quality, network modelling, fault tolerant real-time interfaces, highly available systems, SOAP, XML, JSON. I have exemplary time management skills, which enable me to successfully service multiple clients with competing priorities. In that regard, ITIL Foundation certification is a valuable weapon in my arsenal. I am always willing to find technical solutions for clients, and also to find non-technical solutions where beneficial.
