About Paul Cann

I bring people and project management experience across the design and construction, transmission and grid connection, commissioning and operations and maintenance project phases. This has been gained working on world-leading offshore wind projects in the UK and Europe, large Australian onshore wind farms and emerging battery technologies. I understand the critical success factors for delivering these projects safely and reliably, and at the pace and scale we need to decarbonise and support new green industries. I have more than 10 years’ experience in roles as Design Manager, Project Manager and Technical Advisor with a proven track record in site management (including offshore platforms and substations where general safety and electrical system safety are critical) power systems engineering with control room set up and SAP duties, coordination and implementation of work on onshore and offshore substations, asset management and quality assurance. I take safety seriously, being authorised for high voltage operations and responsible for carrying out switching activities at up to 400kV and issuing permits for people to work on or near the high voltage network. I also have a deep understanding of SCADA hardware and software design and implementation, and was responsible for the first energisation of wind turbine generators, fault finding and annual maintenance. I also understand the unique challenges of workforce planning having worked as a consultant for a range of clients including developers, engineering, procurement and construction companies, original equipment manufacturers and consultants to source engineering staff for renewable, hybrid, battery energy storage and traditional power projects across Australia and New Zealand.
