About Paul Carty

After high school, I went right into an automotive program at Arizona Automotive Institute in Phoenix AZ. While going to school, I worked in the Tire Lube express department at Walmart, preforming oil changes, tire replacements, and tire repair. I graduated near the top of my class with an associates degree in applied sciences. After Arizona Automotive, I applied to the SAFE graduate program to learn to work on Volvos. While in the SAFE program I worked as a helper at Lisle Volvo in Chicago IL. I mostly performed oil changes but was soon given the chance to help with bigger jobs like transmission replacements. After the SAFE program I signed a contract with Beal Parkway Volvo in Ft Walton Beach FL. This was my first experience working on my own as automotive technician. I got my footing as a technician learning how to implement what I'd learned in school in the real world. I moved back to Austin and started working at Roger Beasley Volvo (now Volvo Cars of Austin) in January of 2003. I began to take my ASEs and take all the Volvo classes and tests to improve my Volvo rating. After passing the L1 I received, and still currently have my Expert rating with Volvo. I've recently taken and passed my L3 for electrified vehicles.
