About Paul Greff

As the CIO of the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS), the largest state pension fund in Ohio and one of the largest public retirement systems in the U.S, I lead a team of 60 professionals and allocate assets among a diversified set of both public and private global asset classes. With more than 30 years of investment governance and management experience, my success stems from fostering a failure tolerant/collaborative culture, optimally allocating assets to achieve a target return, and driving business objectives to create a highly efficient and cost-effective organization. As a transformational leader, I have rebuilt investment teams into collaborative, innovative and intelligent risk-taking entities focused on producing desired investment results. Combining a unique set of talents and expertise including astute investing strategies, business operations, technology, and cooperative relationships, I have constructed cohesive and dynamic organizations that can evolve alongside the financial markets. As a fault-tolerant leader who never settles for mediocrity, I consistently mentor, coach, and empower individuals to encourage their development and maximize their success which in-turn maximizes the organization’s success.
