About Paul Hanson

After building a career as a systems engineer, manager of software development projects and product manager in the telecommunications and Internet fields, I have pivoted to intellectual property. I became a Patent Agent in 2014 and with my additional knowledge of patent law, I have enjoyed developing and defending against, patent infringement assertions. I have mined patent portfolios of well known technology companies to develop claim charts that present evidence of patent infringement for use in licensing and litigation. I have also reviewed claim charts being asserted against clients to find technical and weaknesses and claim construction weaknesses in defense of my clients. I am comfortable performing such intellectual property analysis for patents in a number of technology spaces including telecommunications, consumer electronics projects, cloud computing technologies, AI, smartphones, smart speakers and more. I have also contributed claims for continuations in patent families with open prosecution. With years of experience in IP analysis, I have earned a niche training and mentoring others in claim charting and being a peer reviewer to provide a second pair of eyes to validate other analysts work. I have also developed template documents for use in IP analysis leading to patent infringement assertions.
