About Paul Hebditch

I am an accomplished rail operations and planning leader with over 30 years of experience in UK and US railways. For the last nine years I have been supporting service development and providing strategic operations support for the California High Speed Rail Authority, and to BART/Capitol Corridor for their Link21 program. I am experienced in developing strategic objectives and then translating these into innovative, pragmatic programs of work; delivering strong advocacy for those programs to stakeholders at all levels; and taking them into implementation. I have experience in the development of integrated operational plans to support the delivery of engineering projects and the co-ordination of planning teams working in multi-disciplinary and multi-asset environments. I am adept at developing strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders. My technical experience has been working across the industry ranging from front line, real time delivery roles to strategic, enterprise wide positions. These have been predominantly related to the planning and operation of freight and passenger train services, covering both classic and high-speed rail routes. I thoroughly understand access planning and operational management - as demonstrated through development of plans to keep key London stations and train services operational during the multi-billion dollar, multi-year Thameslink Program; and supporting operational planning to deliver public transport for the London 2012 Olympic Games. My experience includes hands-on railway operations leadership as a member of Network Rail’s executive route leadership team. I have developed integrated, operational plans to support delivery of engineering work across track miles and the operation of train services per day serving London from across the South and East of the UK, including HS1 into Europe.
