About Paul Hoffeins

As Co-Lead of the Research Group Lightweight Design, I am driven by the conviction: Technological progress and innovation are crucial for a sustainable future. My goal: To transfer these innovations into the products and companies of tomorrow and be part of the solution for a better future. In my role as Co-Lead of a 10-member team (since 2024), I focus on the strategic development of our research, building international networks, and transferring results into application. A key part of this is also the successful acquisition of research funding – where I have already made a significant contribution to securing several million euros, thereby launching key projects. My personal expertise focuses on integrating sustainability and circular economy aspects into product development (especially for e-mobility & electric machines), as well as fundamental lightweight design methods. I apply this expertise, for instance, in large-scale publicly funded projects such as 'LiKE'(approx. €8M budget, 8 partners) and 'DigiTain: Digitalization for Sustainability'(approx. €36M budget, 28 partners), working as a researcher and sub-project manager for TU Dresden. Through my strategic leadership and support, we, as a team, successfully develop innovative lightweight solutions for a wide range of industries (aerospace, automotive, energy, medical technology, among others). My mission: To make a tangible contribution to the sustainable transformation of industry by combining technical expertise with strategic application. I seek dialogue on complex challenges where this conviction and my experience can be effectively applied to shape the future.
