About Paul Jeffko

With more than 30 years working in various aspects of the media industry, I created SmallTownPapers to help make small market newspaper archives accessible and searchable via the Internet. Millions of newspaper pages were scanned and are now hosted online where they can be easily searched from any location while the original archives are back with their owners safe from repeated handling. The archives are now easier than ever before to find with an Internet search. After a few years of working with community newspapers, I began fielding requests from other, larger newspapers about digitizing archive collections. So, building on its success, SmallTownPapers launched ArchiveInABox which allows organizations (newspapers of all sizes, historical stakeholders, museums, libraries and more) to have access to the SmallTownPapers scanning expertise, process, and web hosting. Recently, our inquiries expanded to historical stakeholders who want to digitize defunct newspapers and work with publishers to digitize more historical resources. We've recently launched a new website to host and allow for interaction with these archives. The site is free for organizations to use and delivers an easy and intuitive experience. We can't forget BetterBNC which is our online media contest platform that is standardizing the way media organizations are accepting and judging contest entries. We work with organizations including the Associated Press, Society of Professional Journalism chapters, local press and broadcast associations and more.
