About Paul Kronenberg

Not happy? Only one person can change that – you! My name is paul kronenberg, a changineer, social entrepreneur, and co-founder/director of Braille Without Borders and kanthari. My journey began with a passion for engineering and problem-solving. But I quickly realized that the world’s toughest challenges aren’t technical, they are social. In 1997, I met Sabriye Tenberken in Lhasa, Tibet. Blind since the age of 12, she had developed the Tibetan Braille script and was planning to open Tibet’s first school for the blind. I said, “Call me when you start.” She did. The day after she called me, I quit my job and joined her. Together, we established Tibet’s first school for the blind. But we kept asking ourselves: How do we create opportunities for those overlooked by society? How do we empower people who have the vision but lack the tools? In 2009, this led us to co-found the Impact Leadership Institute kanthari, a launchpad for change makers. Through our “Journey in Five Acts” curriculum, we equip leaders from marginalized communities with the mindset, skills, and tools to create and sustain impactful ventures. Our impact to date: Since 2009, we have empowered 303 social change makers from 57 countries. This has resulted in 200+ impactful organizations, collectively improving the lives of people every day, especially those positioned on the margins of society. What drives me I believe in open-source thinking, not just in technology, but in leadership, innovation, and life itself. I value hands-on learning, questioning the status quo, and building creative, cost-effective solutions to complex problems. Most of all, I believe in people; their resilience, ideas, and power to drive meaningful change, no matter their background.
