About Paul Larsen

Progressive communities are those that will prosper in the 21st Century. Brigham City, my home since 1996, is one of those communities. I take a generalist approach to my work, in the belief that effective community and economic development involves communication across a broad range of disciplines. I have experience on a variety of fronts including land use planning, re-use of historic properties, downtown revitalization, telecommunications, redevelopment agency operation, public transportation, entrepreneurial development, business incubation, etc. I have an intense interest in the relationship between the built and natural environment, and in the capacity and potential for the built environment to contribute to the quality of life of a community, its social and cultural life, and its economic success. This interest has grown out of my background in planning and landscape architecture, and my travels. I believe in the importance of a sense of place, and that physical places matter more than virtual spaces. Communities that understand this will be the successful communities of the future. I hope to be able to make a lasting contribution to this potential in any way I can. I have found that some of the best rewards of my profession are the relationships I have built with practitioners in community and economic development and a host of other disciplines.
