University Professor and NIH-funded neuroscientist with more than 40 years of experience.NIH Grant reviewer (Center for Scientific Review, study section chair, 1996-1997), NDCD Council, Blue Ribbon Panel Chair for NIDCD Intramural Program, Editor-in-Chief, Journal of the Association for Research in Otolaryngolgy (2011-2022). Extensive grant review experience including chairing ad-hoc study sections for NIH CSR for multiple institutes(NINDS, NIA, NIDCD), private foundations, and NSF.Directed active NIH research program in central auditory physiology for 40 years, with staff of 4-10 (technicians, graduate students, medical students, residents, postdoctoral fellows and faculty fellows). Collaborated on projects in prefrontal cortex, auditory cortex, and computational models of central auditory neurons.Authored >70 peer-reviewed publications and 9 book chapters. Graduate school teaching in synaptic transmission, electrophysiology (channels, excitability), auditory system physiology, and biomedical engineering laboratory. Directed graduate program in Neurobiology (30 students, NIH training grant) for 4 years.
