Background
About Paul Mark
My philosophy of education is formed through a combination of my life experiences as a student, my experiences as a professional in the Marketing and Communication industry, and my 13 plus years as an Educator. As a professional for more than 10 years in the Marketing and Communications industry, I understand the importance of being able to think both strategically and imaginatively. When students graduate they need to have the skills and attitudes that will make it possible for them to be active and successful in whatever path they choose. To that end, I endeavour to teach a certain way of approaching a problem that will prepare students for post-secondary education and the world of work. I strongly relate to the idea that to be a great Teacher is to be a great Coach and that all students have the ability to learn. While each new class of students brings a new set of needs to a course, it is my philosophy that communication technologies are something that everyone can learn with practice and observation. I believe that as a teacher it is my responsibility to find the best way for each of my students to maximize their learning. I respond by custom fitting the course to the new dynamic of learners whether they are auditory, visual or hands on. All students have the ability to learn. While each new class of students brings a new set of needs to a course, I believe that as a Teacher it is my responsibility to do everything in my power to find the best way for each of my students to maximize their learning. I believe in making learning meaningful to my students. That is to say, students need “doing to learn” rather than “learning to do”. Students in Communications Technology classes will be exposed to hands on practical application.
