About Paul Miles

I joined the Bank of England in 1986. My initial responsibilities were centered around Gilt registration and banking operational roles. During my 14 years at the Bank I moved in to operational management roles, covering the operational support of the Banks settlement and payments systems; such as CGO (gilts), CMO (money markets) and the RTGS payment system. I held a project management position delivering the transformation of the CGO2 upgrade project, which supported the UK government initiative to migrate and centralise UK settlement systems to the CREST operating system. In July I moved to CRESTCo Limited and delivered the migration of gilts securities to the CREST system. Over the next few years I became the Head of Operations and oversaw the smooth migration of numerous domestic solutions to enhance the local CSD and infrastructure services, such as: the introduction of CCP operating models for equities, migrating money market instruments in to CREST and delivering Central Bank Money solutions for Sterling, Dollar and Euro settlement. I worked throughout business operations and became the COO responsible for the day to day business deliverables. During this time I established myself as a member of the Euroclear UK & Ireland (EUI) executive management committee. In 2013 I took up responsibilities as the Head of CEO office at EUI which provided me the opportunity to oversee and support the day to day operational control responsibilities, sponsor key business and technical initiatives and to provide key input in to ensuring EUI's strategic vision aligning to the group strategy. I remain an active member of the Euroclear UK & International executive management committee. My current role in Euroclear is the Chief Business Officer and I am responsible for the execution of the UK business strategy and overseeing the commercial relationship for clients utilising the UK CSD services.
