About Paul Mullen

I stumbled into IT by accident, much like everyone else in this gig. A family member was working for an up and coming IT Security distribution company and convinced me to apply and that’s where my journey began. Beginning in IT was like learning a new language, just with hundreds of unfamiliar acronyms. Fast forward 8 years and of miles of driving to client meetings, and I had climbed the heady heights of the corporate ladder and found myself inexplicably managing people. Apologies to my direct reports for that one. I found myself buried in excel and reporting, but soon realised that much like a magpie, my passion lay with the new and shiny. I followed my nose and stepped into the world of vendor management, meeting exciting new vendors from around the world and sharing ideas with my colleagues and clients. I was officially looking for the next golden egg to make my millions (well for the business anyway). It was my passion for all things technology which drove me to take a different direction in my career and move into the world of IT Consultancy. I began to focus on not just the technology needs of an organisation in this brave new world, but also the needs of the business alongside that. It’s about how a business is affected by change, how to communicate, how to educate and how to plan strategy for the future to accommodate technological advancements in Cloud, Automation and Machine Learning to name but a few. So, I continue to grow, listen and learn. I’m able to do this from the great minds I am lucky enough to work alongside, and the clients I see every day. I spend most of my time nurturing these relationships to bring about positive change, and the rest of it keeping my tiny dinosaur brain full of knowledge about the latest IT and Security advances.
