About Paul Olson

My interest and passion in helping people throughout my professional experiences has led me to the career of a funeral director. I find the experience of a funeral director highly rewarding in helping families and guiding them through a difficult time of their lives. My professional career did not start out as a funeral director. I received an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration at Lake Land College, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Corporate/Organizational Communications with a minor in Journalism at Northern Illinois University. I obtain over five years experience in marketing and public relations. In my spare time, I have participated and volunteered for various different organizations such as Red Cross, Habit for Humanity, and American Cancer Society. In 2008 when I was planning on continuing my education for a M.S. degree, I found a new calling for my professional career. My family experienced several deaths of loved ones in a short period. After observing the compassion and care that funeral directors offer individuals, I decided this was an excellent path to follow to help people in a time of need. I graduated with highest honors from Carl Sandburg College in 2011, and I received my Funeral Director/Embalmer license in 2012. My main current objectives are to continue educate myself and work with different types of funeral traditions from other cultures. I am also interested in observing current changes and patterns in the funeral industry.
