What Galen does: Galen is a configurable, scalable, medical device software platform that makes it easy to connect medical devices to a FDA/HIPPA compliant cloud. We do it at a fraction of the cost and schedule along with providing a host of other services including a stage for predictive analytics and an interface to Electronic Health Records. How we define connected medical devices: A FDA Class medical device that sends information to an external platform. The devices include wearable medical tech, fully implantable devices, neuro-stimulators, pure software algorithm applications, diagnostics devices, and free standing medical equipment. Where Galen see medical device connectivity in two years: Today most medical devices are not connected to the internet. That is starting to change, to be competitive in a connected world, medical devices will be expected to be connected for new designs within the next two years. We also see greater demand for on-demand medical device data analysis and device maintenance (think the equivalent of your car's check engine light). Also, we see demand for deep integration of medical devices transmitting information directly into Electronic Health Records - this is not being done today.
