About Paul Schofield

I have 30 years experience in the Telecommunications industry. I left school to work for British Rail Telecommunications and also studied ONC in Telecommunications and Electronic Engineering at Farnborough Tech. Since leaving the railway, I have had several different roles in different companies. I installed and maintained PABXs and data networks for a small company in Basingstoke. I had my first role as a test analyst for Thomson CSF Communications in Bracknell, where I tested a communications platform for the British Armed Forces. I spent 5 years working for BlueArc in Bracknell where I was a senior test analyst working on a network attached storage sollution. After leaving Bluearc, it was all change for me, and I hopped on an aeroplane and travelled to the other side of the world. My first role in NZ was as a senior test analyst for a mobile software company eServ Global in Wellington. The software developed there was used by mobile phone companies to route and intercept sms messages, and also to provide billing functionality. I had a 5 month gap after leaving eServ, and spent some time developing my skills, one of which was Java development. I am currently working for the microwave hardware manufacturer Aviat Networks in Lower Hutt, and I am responsible for testing the network management software. This includes software development for the automation platform, testing tools and radio simulations. As for my personal life, I have now been in New Zealand since 2005 and have a beautiful wife and 2 beautiful kiwi children. I've lapped up everything that New Zealand has to offer including hiking, white water and sea kayaking, skiing and mountain biking. I enjoy building electronics and software projects in my spare time, building and programming micro controllers, designing websites and writing mobile phone apps.
