About Paul Simonis

I am a passionate and ambitious, practically oriented lecturer and researcher. As an experienced Supply Chain Manager in the FMCG industry, I love to combine theory with practice. Currently, I am working as a lecturer at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences (faculty 'Technische Bedrijfskunde'). I teach a variety of courses. At the moment, I teach Business Administration, CSR, Change Management, and Supply Chain Management. In the past, I taught core courses within the field, such as Operations Management, Lean Six Sigma, and Discrete Event Simulation. Next to teaching, I am also a researcher within the Human Data Interaction lab. At the moment, my research interest in the lab concerns social network analysis in healthcare (with a focus on solving social dilemma's in networks) and the effects of AI implementation in companies on firm-employee relationships. In 2023, I started as an external PhD candidate at the UvA under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ir. J.W. Stoelhorst. I conduct research within the field of stakeholder theory. More specifically, I study stakeholders' behavioral and cognitive reactions to a firm's stakeholder management. In my research, I examine the nature and strength of relationships between firms and stakeholders, as well as relationships among stakeholders. Alongside my work, I am also an author for Noordhoff Uitgeverij. In 2025, Basisboek Technische Bedrijfskunde (Fundamentals of Industrial Engineering & Management) has been published. My two biggest passions are music and cycling. I play guitar in a cover band called Moonwater.
