About Paul Strafford

I studied Media Technology at The University of Salford and achieved a First Class Honours. The course made me aware of both the engineering and operational sides of media. During my degree, I found myself a lot of operational experience and freelance work; this was fantastic in helping me broaden my knowledge and scope of the industry. I graduated July 2013 and shortly after was offered a temporary MCR position at SIS Live (now NEP Connect). This turned into a full time position, where I then worked until January 2022. I moved to Liverpool FC, where I am currently employed as the Director of Media Technology. Media Technology BSc Modules: Video and Audio Signals – Analogue and digital signal theory Maths – Using formulas to calculate data rates and understanding power supplies Video Production – Studio time and team video project Audio Production – Audio post using Pro Tools Transmission Theory – DTT, Cable, Satellite, Mobile, IPTV Streaming for Broadcast & Cinema – Compression theory & video project High Definition & Outside Broadcasting – Different standards, codecs & methods of distributing HD over multiple platforms Systems Integration – Designing an OB truck and all systems related using CAD drawings, various schematics. Understanding the workflow and integrating 4k & 3D Major Project – Dissertation on Developments in Media: Working Towards Systems Such As 3D, 4k & Beyond. Outlining the options that are available, the challenges these systems will face and ways to overcome said challenges.
