About Paul Taplin

I have over 5 years experience in an ISO 17025 and UKAS accredited laboratory as a Senior LCMS Analyst working on a large waste water project for three of the UK largest water utility companies. This project involved method development and validation for the analysis of River water, Trade Effluent, Influent and Sludge for various compounds including a large suite of Pharmaceuticals, Triclosan, Pesticides and other such contaminants that are persistent within the environment. My main role was to run and analyse the data using LCMS/MS systems along with supervising the rest of the team to ensure that the data reported was fit for purpose. Originally starting as an Assistant Analyst I learnt various extraction techniques including liquid/liquid and SPE before becoming an Analyst where I learnt how to run and process data from various different instruments including Ion Chromatography,HPLC and then LCMS/MS. This the lead to me becoming a Senior Analyst within a year, in control of a large water project and over seeing a small team of 8 people to ensure the clients deadlines are met.
