About Paul Thomson

Associate Director within Buro Happold Infrastructure/civil engineering team with 25 years’ experience, over 16 of which are at Buro Happold working on numerous high profile international and UK infrastructure projects. Having worked overseas in Australia, United States and UAE, I have a broad cultural and design background, specialising in infrastructure, earthworks modelling, drainage design and strategies, sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS) and highway design. I have built strong relationships and collaborated with many clients, PM’s and local authorities to progress approvals and applications efficiently with a broad understanding of planning requirements. I have a keen interest in sustainable construction techniques and how software can be linked to multiple disciplines for computational, visual and design coordination purposes. Highly competent with 12d, Civil 3d, Microdrainage, AutoCAD and all derivations of these software packages. Calm approach to design enables me to contribute to complex problem solving adopting an holistic approach to civil engineering aspects of his schemes. Currently leading an infrastructure team and civil engineering lead for multidiscipline projects within the UK across a wide variety of sectors.
