About Paula Jorgensen

An interdisciplinary practitioner with a background in consultation and engagement, project culture and program leadership, I now commit myself to work that makes space for all participants and stakeholders to collaborate toward their best contribution. These are some of the names I’ve been called during my years as designer, camp director, mother and community development specialist. I am an elder pioneer, exploring the geography of community and a good citizen of two countries, the U.S.A.(where I was born and raised) and Australia (my home since 1995). Living somewhat uncomfortably within the box labeled ‘conventional’, I travel outside to bring new ideas in, widening the box for myself and others. The wider the box, the more possibility it contains. It’s possibility that keeps us resilient, flexible, creative and responsive, qualities we need in this time of unceasing, rapid change. I don’t profess to teach anyone anything they don’t already know. What I will do is to help people discover how much knowledge and capacity they already have, in a way that creates new possibility and inspires positive change for them and their communities. The most satisfying change comes from strategically introducing people and ideas and watching what grows. You could say my best work isn’t the work I’ve done myself, but has been a result of connections I’ve facilitated.
