About Paula Purdue

An accomplished and versatile scientist with practical experience in both microbiology and analytical chemistry, along with extensive administrative and data entry experience, acquired in both industry and the education sector. My position of applied science and biology lecturer at B.C.O.T. demonstrated my ability to interact with people at all levels and the ability to train others in new practical techniques and procedures. Seeing people develop skills I have taught them is something I find extremely rewarding. As a QC Microbiologist at Thermo Fisher Scientific, I was responsible for the quality control testing of various diagnostic products (including Culture Media; Antibiotic discs and strips) in accordance with test specifications, methods and SOP’s. All products under test were prioritised in order to meet their availability dates, with test results being accurately recorded onto the SAP data base and any OOS results being raised to the QC Team Leader. Recent professional development has included attending a cGMP training course and ‘Train the Trainer’ courses in 2017. In 2015 I successfully completed the ‘BTEC Level 3 Award in Education and Training’ teaching qualification and the ‘BTEC Level 2 in C.O.S.H.H.’ I have the ability to work effectively and independently without supervision and as a team member, giving support when and where needed. I am a flexible, organised person who pays close attention to detail and someone who is both approachable and a good listener. I am now looking to secure a challenging and rewarding new role to further develop my career, where my skills, knowledge and expertise gained throughout my career can be transferred and utilised to the best effect, and I am confident that my enthusiasm and hard work will prove me to be a worthy asset to your organisation.
