About Paula Ruedebusch

Dr. Paula Ruedebusch is an experienced Sub-Investigator on Infectious Disease clinical trials, an ANCC board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, and academic faculty. She has a Master’s of Science of Nursing (MSN) from the University of Northern Colorado and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the University of Colorado. Dr. Ruedebusch’s focus remains on the clinical care of patients of all ages and states of health and also in teaching undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students in a variety of settings. She worked as a Pediatric Nurse for 5 years, and has worked as a Nurse Practitioner in Emergency and Urgent Care Medicine for 16+ years. Dr. Ruedebusch added in an Infectious Disease Research position at Seattle Children’s Hospital where she works on clinical trials and performs research as a Sub-Investigator on phase 1-3 vaccine trials. She focuses on incorporating evidence-based practice into her clinical and teaching roles. She enjoys partnering with patients and their families to devise a workable care plan when working in clinical settings, and anticipates the outcomes of her clinical trials that will further evidence-based knowledge and global best-practice recommendations when she is working on her research team. Dr. Ruedebusch has extensive experience teaching, having written and taught over 13 courses at the University of Washington, spanning from pre-nursing to BSN, ABSN, NP, and DNP courses. In 2016, she was nominated for the University of Washington Distinguished Teaching Award, and in 2016 was the Recipient of the School of Nursing Rheba de Tornyay Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award. In addition to clinical, lab, and didactic teaching, she has led international immersion community health nursing trips with Undergraduate and Graduate Nursing students in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Current research interests and ongoing projects include multiple global infectious disease clinical trials involving maternal, infant, and pediatric immunizations.
