As Global Vocabulary LLC’s Founder and President, Dr. Paulette Goll reflects on the past decade and the development of six, five-star rated apps by the App Store, she is profoundly grateful to her talented team and the incredible support of her business partner, Rick Becker, the now retired President of the Baldwin Group. Dr. Goll’s career spans five decades: 30 years in the Cleveland City Schools, during which she was recognized as a Master Teacher by the Center for Learning and the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation, named BP [British Petroleum] Inspirational Teacher of the Year, and honored with a U.S. Congressional Commendation. Finally “graduating” [aka retiring] from [Lincoln-West] high school, she served on the faculties of Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Institute of Music where she gained extensive experience working with international students. She is published in both English and education journals. “Setting George Herbert’s Lyrics” was selected as the first digital supplement to the George Herbert Journal, and “George Herbert: The Temple” has the distinction of being the first interdisciplinary, interactive digital poster in the humanities ever presented at Case’s Research Showcase. Among Dr. Goll’s app presentations and journal publications, two highlights stand out: the awarding of U.S. Patent 10, 373, 516, Method for Facilitating Contextual Vocabulary Acquisition Through Association in 2019, and the development of the Essential Nursing Vocabulary iPhone App in collaboration with Ursuline College’s Breen School of Nursing in 2022. “Help Wanted: Aspiring Minority Nurses”, slated to be published in Education in a forthcoming issue, addresses the impending American nurse shortage and proposes strategies to meet this critical need.
