About Paulina Serrano

University of Northern Colorado Alum currently working as a Certified Hemodialysis Technician at Davita, where I must be able to operate and trouble shoot dialysis machines of many makes and models. I am able to set up machines and stations for each patient according to the policy and procedure as well as the medical prescription per nephrologist orders, in a timely and efficient manner. I am a provider of quality care during hemodialysis of patients as I monitor their vitals during their treatments as well as make life changing decisions to keep patient safety as a priority. While patient safety is always first I must also be prepared to provide emergency care if needed at a moments notice. During my time as a Dialysis technician I have become an "expert cannulator" that is able to mature any Dialysis vascular access and have become a preceptor to help aid other technicians to get to expert level as well. I have also stepped into the more administrative side of health care by being an Administrative Assistant, being able to make admission of new or visiting patients easier on them as well as the health care staff. I am able to schedule appointments, efficiently file all documentation, and do OSHA audits to ensure that policy and procedure is being followed by teammates. I also focus on patient education to ensure that patients are getting educated on how to take better care of themselves. I am fluent in Spanish and English, with a four year background in American Sign Language.
