About Pavan Segal

I am a practicing psychiatrist that is board certified in both general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. Currently, I am in private practice as the president and CEO of Bethesda Psychiatry. Prior to this I served as the medical director for MSA the child and adolescent center. Addiitonally, I was the medical director for the adolescent partial hospitalization program and adolescent intensive outpatient programs for Adventist Healthcare and Shady Grove Hospital located in Rockville, MD. Prior to that I served as the medical director for the for the adolescent partial hospitalization program and adolescent intensive outpatient services at the NorthShore University HealthSystem in the Chicago area. I am particularly focused in child and adolescent psychiatry and have extensive experience working with children and teenagers in a number of settings including inpatient, intensive outpatient, emergency, consult and liaison, and traditional office based settings. I have a significant interest in leadership, teaching (medical students, residents, and fellows), program and curriculum development, as well as outreach and collaboration in the community as it relates to the development and implementation of mental healthcare services for children and adolescents. Additionally, I am skilled in a number of modalities of psychotherapy (CBT, DBT, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and Family Therapy), psychopharmacology, as well as in implementation of systems based care and evidence based practices. I am a strong believer in progressive mental healthcare practices that draw on the effective integration of individual and group psychotherapy, medication as clinically warranted, family therapy, as well as the utilization of social supports and wellness practices.
