About Pawan Karki

Pawan Karki is a Chartered Engineer and an accomplished leader in the transport sector, with a strong and successful background in international development. He has a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Moscow Automobile and Road Institute (former USSR), 1986, and a MSc. from the University of Strathclyde (UK), 1993. Pawan is a Chartered Engineer from the Institution of Engineers (UK), CEng, MICE, FCIHT, MNArbC, and Certified Project Director from the International Project Management Association. Pawan has 37 years of experience in 15 countries. He joined ADB in 2015 as a Senior Transport Specialist and in 2022 was promoted to Principal Transport Specialist. He is leading the Transport Sector in Uzbekistan. He has led and implemented several large and complex infrastructure projects and TAs throughout CWRD. Pawan takes the opportunity to share his knowledge with the EA and other sectors/ departments and helps other project team Leaders incorporate innovation, sustainable, and resilience infrastructure into transport projects. Pawan has organized webinars to ADB staff and in Russian to the Executive Agencies in CAREC member countries. He is a frequent speaker at regional Transport related seminars and conferences. Pawan is an author of several technical articles in various magazines, practical technical guidance notes, road construction handbooks, and blogs.
