Background

About Pawan Kumar Jayaswal

Bachelor of Engineering in Biotechnology from the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal, India where I researched inhibitor optimization against anthrax lethal toxin protein (2007) and get recognition of the best student from the Biotechnology department of SRITS college. I then went to the School of Chemical & Biotechnology, SASTRA University to study the Bioinformatics and I researched on molecular modeling and ligand protein interaction of cathepsin B protein of six Leishmania strains (2009), after which I joined SRITS college as a Lecturer and taught Bioinformatics subject to undergraduate students for even semester. After SRITS, I moved to National Institute for Plant Biotechnology formerly known as National Institute for Plant Biotechnology (NIPB), New Delhi, India and I worked on Establishment of National Rice Resource Database and redesigned and upgraded the existing database of rice. I completed my Ph.D in the collaboration of NIPB and Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan, India where I worked on comparative analysis of conserved genes and repeat elements in plant, animal, fungi, protista and archaea species and reported about 98 conserved genes among 49 different species, during my study I also studied the structural characterization and divergence analysis of transposable elements in eight legume species and reported about the insertion-deletion events in the selected legume species. At NIPB, my research work is focused on genome and transcriptome assembly and downstream analysis and in past in contributed in the three plant genome assembly project like Pigeonpea, jute and mango along with this I also participated in the two plant-pathogen based transcriptome study like floral malformation in between mango - Fusarium mangiferae as well as Polianthus tuberosa and nematode. As a bioinformatics professional I developed various pipeline for the downstream data analysis and also contributed in the fabrication of 50K, 60 K and 80K affymatrix gene-chip of Rice, Pigeon pea and mango gene chip. My current research work is focused on the development of genome assembly, variant analysis and linkage group development of different plant species.
