About Pedro Arilla
Pedro Arilla (1984–). I am Co-Founder & Type Director at Arillatype.Studio® (2021–), where I work as part of a talented team blending creativity, craft, and technology to create contemporary, charismatic typefaces. I’ve designed over 100 typefaces, led font projects for clients such as Google, Disney, Coca-Cola, LaLiga, Unilever, Paralympics and UEFA, and designed typefaces in Latin, Arabic, Cyrillic, Greek, Thai and Japanese scripts. I previously graduated with Distinction in the world-renowned MA Typeface Design at the University of Reading (UK, 2016–2017), and later worked as a Creative Director at the legendary foundry Fontsmith (UK, 2017–2020) — and Monotype (USA, 2020). I am the author of ¿Por qué es buena esta tipografía?(Campgràfic, 2024), a book on type evaluation. I ran Don Serifa (2011–2022) one of the most relevant blogs and podcasts on typography in Spanish. I co-organised and taught Glíglifo (2014–2024) an international intensive typeface design workshop in a medieval town.
