About Pedro Benavides

Persistence and dedication, not talent, is what distinguishes between those who succeed and those who fail. As a young man, I was fortunate to land my first job in the Industrial engineering department at United Parcel Service. At UPS I had the great opportunity to work in Mexico City to expand our overnight shipping operations in Latin America. Upon my return from special assignment, I moved to the operations department at PENN PLAZA center as an on car supervisor. One night while I was conducting a lost prevention audit, I found my calling, AV electronics. This required going back to school, at Dervy University, for the next few years to sharpen my skills in the field of Electronic Engineering Technology. For income, during the day I worked as a subcontractor for Protection One, ADT, Stanley Convergent Security Solutions, and GC alarms and audio video. Working as a consultant gave me the flexibility to successfully complete my academic goals. At SBP Industries, I got my first chance to gain experience in power generation and audio/video distribution for the entertainment industry. There, I converted a 50KW emergency lighting Trailer into a mobile public address system by adding a crown amp and a few other items. My next opportunity presented itself as a lead AV technician at Presentation Products Inc. There, I gained valuable experience in home automation, lighting control, and audio video distribution. We also specialized in presentation products for Commercial and Scholastic applications. I have experience working with Crestron, AMX, Smartboad, Hanwha Techwin IP Products, and Extron AV products. I also attained my CTS certification. At Worldwide Security Inc. I had the opportunity to attain my NICET level 2 Fire alarm certification. Furthermore, I gained experience working with Novar, Control4, and HAI home automation systems. Fortunately, company training keeps me current on industries trends regarding AV, Fire and security.
