About Pedro Cortes

My degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Florida International University educated me on how to cover any topic in the best way possible. Through the years of hard work at FIU, I learned that I had a passion for not only writing, but for audio and video production. I may have graduated with a degree in print, but I've made it my goal to be able to produce excellent material in every medium I can reach. Starting in 2008, I became part of Modern Method's network of bloggers by interning for the company. Afterward, I began writing for both Tomopop, their vertical dedicated to toy collecting and the vinyl art scene, and Japanator, their Japanese culture blog. During my tenure, I was promoted to Features Editor on Tomopop and took over their monthly podcast as producer and editor. I also attended multiple trade shows and conventions to cover breaking news for both websites, creating both written updates and video features on short notice. Outside of Modern Method, I was the co-host, producer, and editor for MAHQ's Chaos Theater, a catch-all podcast the covers science fiction and fantasy across all mediums. Over seven years, we created dozens of episodes interviewing voice actors, covering news, and reviewing all manner of movies, TV shows, books, comics, and games. I returned to school in 2012 to improve my craft. I learned how to write better, edit better, and through that work I found my first job in post-production at Mediapro. There, my natural inclination to organization and the skills I gained over the years of working as an office work combined to make me a natural fit in media management. My years at Mediapro helped when I was hired at DAZN, leading to my promotion to media manager after only 5 months. My greatest wish is to consistently improve the many crafts that I use in my many lines of work. Through my experiences on the field and over the internet, I want to be one of the best out there. I know that with hard work and dedication, I will be able to accomplish this.
