With a Ph.D. in Fisheries Sciences and Technology and a B.Sc. in Marine Biology from the University of the Algarve, I am a dedicated researcher and advocate for advancing fisheries management to foster sustainable practices and promote thriving fisheries economies and healthy oceans. As the leader of the Science unit at Sustainable Fisheries Partnership, a U.S-based non-profit, I actively contribute to the organization’s mission by collaborating with supply chain stakeholders to enhance fishing practices and ensure sustainable seafood production. My research background spans coastal fish dynamics, seabed habitat mapping, global seafood production and trade trends, seafood certification schemes, ratings, and standards, as well as marine small-scale and recreational fishing.
