About Peer Herholz
Puzzled by the question how waves are transformed into sound and perceived by the brain resulting in something incredibly powerful, I started my research path investigating the neurobiology of auditory processing as a model mechanism of complex biological behavior. Building upon the integration of computational and conceptual models, my research interests moved to generalization in biological and artificial agents and the potentially underlying transformations as a basis for intelligent adaptive behavior. Throughout this journey, the topics of open & reproducible (neuro)science, FAIR-ness, sustainability & ethics, as well as education & outreach became an increasingly important part of my motivation & work. I’m combining all of the above via organizing & conducting workshops, hackathons and lectures/talks, supervising students, supporting researchers and trying to establish/push standards & FAIR research across different levels (e.g, labs, institutes, universities) by being an active part of a versatile set of communities.
