Synopsis: During my 40 years of work in the Southern Africa rail, terminals and port supply chains and logistics for all commodities including Bulk Ore Exports and Containers, I have obtained extensive knowledge, experience and skills in: 1. Multidisciplinary Railway Engineering disciplines (Rail track, traction power, locomotives and wagons, train design/configuration and dynamics, train movement authorisation and maintenance). Pit to Port supply chains, Intermodal and Automotive, Agricultural and Bulk Liquids capacity expansion and performance evaluation; and, 3. Cradle to Grave rail and port supply chain and logistics systems review and development: a. Strategy interpretation, b. Demand evaluation, c. Operations design (Including train configuration, locomotive and wagon selection), d. Maintenance, e. Costing and Financial assessment, f. Environmental and Risk, g. Infrastructure/Equipment Repurpose or retire. Highlights of my work on Projects include: 1. Asset Life cycle Management for Rolling Stock (fleet planning and maintenance management) 2. Long term Planning Framework development – (Transnet wide Development Masterplan) 3. Coal Export 81mtpa capacity expansion. Iron Ore export Capacity Expansion beyond 60 mtpa 5.
