About Peg Maddocks

My professional experience spans from public education to organizational development and training in the corporate sector, providing me a broad view on solutions for transforming education for the 21st century.I began my career as a teacher and principal and then served as the director of a gifted and talented program. I received my Ph.D. from Michigan State University with a degree in Instructional Psychology. Over 30 years, I built out my knowledge and experience in diverse facets of leadership, organizational development, strategic planning and execution, process re-engineering, curriculum development, teacher training, evaluation and the integration of technology into all aspects of educational systems. In 1995, I joined Cisco Systems and established the first technology-based job training program in manufacturing. Over 10 years, I led the development of many award-winning e-learning programs and organizational redesign projects that impacted company performance.In 2005, with a desire to apply my experience to the public sector, I accepted an assignment to lead Cisco's $80m 21st Century Schools Initiative in the Gulf states affected by Hurricane Katrina - Cisco's largest philanthropic effort ever. Over three years, I helped 8 school districts with 50 schools in Mississippi and Louisiana transform into 21st century learning environments. I then shared our best practices and lessons learned with other districts across the country.In September of 2009, I left Cisco and founded a consulting firm to help school leaders redesign their organizational practices for the 21st Century. My passion is transforming leading, learning, and teaching while integrating technology solutions that deliver measurable results.In December of 2011, I was hired by a distinguished and committed Board of Directors to be the first Executive Director of NapaLearns. I am thrilled to find this amazing opportunity to apply all that I have learned to help the students of Napa succeed!In June of 2021, during the great pandemic, I retired! NapaLearns merged with the Napa Valley Education Foundation and continued the great programs we were doing.In January of 2022 I flunked retirement to become the executive director of If Given A Chance (Part-time). Having fun and helping them build capacity through the implementation of technology.
