Background
About Peggy Foreman
My career path has taken me on so many rewarding adventures. I have worked on whale watching boats all throughout the Pacific (AK, WA, and HI), have taught in the K-12 system and community college system for over 10 years (hardest job on the planet, but the most rewarding), worked as a communications specialist for NOAA Fisheries West Coast Region specializing in education and outreach, moved to Honolulu in January 2017 to work for Pacific Islands Climate Change Cooperatives, one of 22 Landscape Conservation Collaborative Networks for the Fish and Wildlife Service. In Feb. of 2018, closed its doors due to federal funding. On March 1st, I started with NOAA Fisheries Pacific Islands Regional Office. I look forward to meeting our partners and our stakeholders to build resilient communities and help conserve all that is dear to these islands, our coral reefs, our local watersheds, native bird species to our charismatic megafauna such as cetaceans, monk seals, and turtles to just name a few. When it comes to promoting life long learning, I believe it stems from home, with strong community leaders, with role models, and compassionate people that make connections between home life and how our actions impact our local rivers, watersheds, and ultimately oceans. I am new to the island of O'ahu and am looking forward to meeting my conservation partners, my hui really, to continue finding new ways to promote climate and environmental literacy and start conversations about what we can do at home to build resiliency, but I also look forward to supporting Malama groups and I making a difference in my community. I am also proud to be back in the Hawaiian Islands and thankful for the work ahead. I am thankful to have a strong family, great friends and colleagues that inspire me to grow!
