About Peggy Porter

42 years of experience in the Transmission & Distribution utility industry working for Duke Energy. Served in numerous leadership positions in various areas of the company which allowed me to use my communication and collaboration skills to lead teams. I especially enjoy the development and coaching opportunities with those on my teams. My Electrical Engineering degree and background has allowed me to move through various areas of the company, both technical and business oriented. I enjoy the challenge of new opportunities and being part of building new teams or helping with the change management that comes with a change in focus of existing teams. I have built and/or led teams of 20-100 people at various times that were seated in one place or managed remotely across large geographic areas. Certified Professional Engineer (NC/SC) and Project Management Professional and have managed yearly project budgets of $200M+. This included managing a team that involved Project Managers working with Project Controls personnel to ensure we correctly projected and met our yearly budget within 1%. It also included direction of a Work Management team through which all the planning and scheduling for the construction work was done on projects. Led Process work to achieve Best Work Practices that were incorporated across our 6 state footprint to stream line work and ensure safety was built into all work. Involved in Safety related Initiative Management and Effectiveness Reviews to ensure proper implementation of Process changes implemented.Project Manager in Power Grid Operations managing a multi-year GIS replacement project which will provide enhanced data, performance, capabilities across the company footprint and will increase collaboration of all users.
