Elevator resume: Experienced business teacher, D.Sc and Early-career researcher, designer (concept, UX, business), cynical consultant. My day job (Senior Lecturer, Arcada UAS) is to help students challenge themselves and look beyond the tempting, easy answers offered by so many textbooks, self-help books or (lately) LLMs. All in order for them to find within themselves the ability to be those future experts and leaders that can help humanity weather (pun intended) the coming polycrisis. On the side, I retain an interest in research. I'm currently finishing a book editing project and sketching out alternative proposals for consideration. At the same time, I have a big heap of various Works in progress that I would need to get finished. If you're looking for a collaborator, be in touch. Herbert Simon (1996) said "Design [.] is concerned with how things ought to be, with devising artefacts to attain goals.", and that I have been doing my entire professional life. I've done software design, UI design, concept design, interaction design, business design. If you can name it, I've likely done it. Today I mostly use my design knowledge for devising (educational) artefacts to attain (learning goals), but from time to time, I take on interesting challenges outside of Higher Education. I have a consummate love-hate relationship with consulting. Consulting is a sham, but a sham that - when perpetrated with skill and aplomb - can be extremely useful. And not in the way that you are likely thinking right now. I'll tell you more once you've contracted me – either to do your dirty work, or to spill the beans on what consulting is really about.
