Penny has a background in international human resources, working primarily in the tech and nonprofit sectors. She has served in various positions over the last few years, ultimately serving as Executive Director for four years. Penny brought a powerful mix of visionary leadership, strategic execution, relational strength, and organizational development to The Luke Clinic. As Executive Director of The Luke Clinic, Penny led a faith-based nonprofit through a period of transformative growth, expanding their reach and deepening their impact in underserved communities. Through visionary leadership, collaborative partnerships, and a relational approach to healthcare, Penny helped shape a culture of dignity, trust, and sustainability. Key Achievements & Contributions: Grew annual budget from to over through strategic fundraising, donor development, and grant acquisition Led a team of 8 staff and 150+ volunteers, fostering a mission-aligned, high-trust environment Expanded services to include postpartum, bereavement, mental health, and spiritual mentorship programs Built strong partnerships with churches, healthcare providers, and local organizations to support maternal health equity Designed and implemented operational systems to support sustainable growth and efficient service delivery Represented The Luke Clinic at conferences, churches, and community events as a passionate advocate and public speaker Prioritized trauma-informed, gospel-centered leadership rooted in compassion, empowerment, and relational care. In January 2025, Penny transitioned into a part-time role as Development and Fundraising Director at The Luke Clinic, with a focused commitment to building a sustainable fundraising model that supports the clinic’s long-term impact. This intentional shift allowed her to bring in and support a new Executive Director—an incredibly gifted leader from the Detroit community the clinic serves, ensuring that the clinic continues to be led by someone deeply connected to the families and neighborhoods at the heart of the mission.
