About Penny Layne

After 30 years in the Hospitality industry, starting each time at and entry level position and achieving supervisory status within months, I was able to transfer many skills when I started a new career at Canadian Blood Services. My strong work ethic, perfect attendance record and strong analytical and communication skills have defined me as an exemplary employee in each of my employment situations. By constantly continuing my education through online courses and work-related seminars, I am able to make an informed contribution to many different working groups. Working with literally thousands of people over my career has given me good insight into workplace atmospheres, potential problems and good solutions to these problems. I have learned good management techniques from some fine mentors and have put them into practice to achieve the best results possible in various situations. Driven by ambition and fueled by ability to think "inside or outside the box", I am proud of my ability to create programs that will produce the best possible results in a workplace by increasing profitability, productivity, organization and communication. Since my start at Canadian Blood Services 8 years ago, I have learned many new computer applications and have aspirations to re-certify through Microsoft to renew Expert Level accreditation. With more experience and wisdom I am becoming very involved in helping to maintain constant improvement within our Facilities Management team as we work through an exciting restructure. Moving to our new site starting in 2019 and ending in 2020 was an amazing challenge. Closing the old center was a real learning experience and I have been able to apply that knowledge as we closed one Donor Clinic and opened a Plasma Donation Center. The future holds so many more openings as we shift towards increasing plasma donations which will be their own entities separate from the Whole Blood Clinics. The work is meaningful and will contribute even more to the health and well being of Canadians. So privileged to be part of Canada's Biological Lifeline!
