About Perry Parsons
I am a current graduate student at Washington University in St. Louis, where I am pursuing a master's in performance studies. I am currently at work on my thesis which will be a biographical piece about the artist and choreographer Cathy Josefowitz, with a focus on her studies under Steve Paxton and Mary Fulkerson at Dartington College of Arts, and her subsequent transition to choreography in the 80's. As a scholar and creative, my interests are eclectic and wide-ranging but rest on a foundational interest in ways that embodiment and contact can challenge binaries and create new and unexpected pathways to liberation. My current research interests and focuses include: queer and trans histories; monstrosity; mediated contact, desire, and embodiment; and eco-sexuality and queer environmentalism
