About Pete Deaver

In an increasingly complicated world, effective communication is both a necessity and a commodity. The age of single-skill assets is coming to a close. Modern communications specialists ideally collect skills like baseball cards: by respecting the legacy of what worked in the past and learning what leads to high stats now. I started my journey in my high school journalism class. I always knew I wanted to be a writer, but only started wrapping my head around distinct forms of writing when I began learning about AP Style. From that point on, I have hungrily familiarized myself with journalistic, academic, grant, technical, personal essay, and fiction forms of writing. I've written feature articles for entertainment sites, organization profiles for a local business magazine, news articles for a college paper, copy for a non-profit's website, essay scripts for YouTube videos that have reached views, personal non-fiction essays, fiction short stories, newsletter articles for a non-profit, and, most recently, grant writing. Through my grant writing, I have been able to meet and exceed minimum fundraising goals, personally soliciting millions of dollars of support for a large-scale food bank. Yet, being a versatile writer is still only the tip of the iceberg for a strong communications specialist. In addition to my writing experience, I have also familiarized myself with video production, including script writing, script recording, vocal audio editing and cleaning, video capture, video editing, and short-form video editing and analytics. As a means of bolstering my skillset, I began a YouTube/TikTok channel brand after college that would incentivize me to learn more about video production and catering to platform-specific algorithms. The YouTube channel has recently reached over subscribers. The TikTok channel has become viral on several occasions, with 7,580 followers gathered from videos that have reached hundreds of thousands of viewers and, on two occasions, over one million. Both channels now serve as a strong example of my commitment to versatile and well-rounded communications practices. And finally, I have familiarized myself with photography.
