About Pete Silverman

I have a wealth of experience, exhibited in seven Emmy awards. I was a VP of Madison Square Garden Networks for twenty years, Senior Executive Producer at ESPN New York for five years, and Professional In Residence at Hofstra University, now in my twelfth academic year. I know how to teach and mentor students. When at WCAU in Philadelphia, I reported for both CBS News and CBS Sports. In Atlanta, I was a stringer for ABC News. I have also done play-by-play for the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL (where I also served as a practice goalie), two NASL teams, MSG Boxing, World Championship Boxing and, most enjoyably, the Executive Producer of the Westminster Kennel Club Show for nine years. I have a BA from Georgetown where I played varsity soccer and graduated as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. I worked on Armed Forces Radio, broadcasting around the world. With an educational delay from the USAF, my M.A. was at Emory University. My thesis has been cited in five books on segregation and desegregation in Georgia. My affiliations include Directors Guild of America(DGA) and American Federation of Television and Radio Artist (AFTRA). I was Executive Producer of the theatrically released film "The Cry, La LLarona" and Executive In Charge of Production for Bob Dylan's 30th Anniversary (with Columbia) Concert at Madison Square Garden. I produced and was EP of two NHL All-Star games, coached John Davidson and Same Rosen to the NHL Hall of Fame, Walt Frazier to the NBA Broadcasting Hall of Fame and hired Mike Emrick, Ian Eagle and Doris Burke. My wife is a Board Certified ER Doctor. She was a nurse for eighteen years and went to med school when our youngest entered kindergarten. I have four children. My oldest daughter is Assistant News Director in Charleston, SC. She previously worked at CNN where she won a national Emmy for the George Floyd coverage. My other children are a social worker, a graphic designer and an entrepreneur in the health field. We are all animal lovers with four dogs, two cats, two ducks, a rabbit and an 18-year old leopard gecko. My interests are politics, news, sports, animals and ice cream.
