About Peter Barsky

With experience across software engineering, team leadership, and market risk, I specialize in bridging the gap between technical innovation and real-world financial problems in the fixed income space. Until recently, Ibuilt and led high-performing engineering teams, delivering enterprise-scale systems for capital markets. Now I work in market risk at a major investment bank, gaining firsthand insight into the challenges and inefficiencies facing today’s trading desks and risk management. I am responsible for market risk weekly commentary for the Whole Loan and Non-Agency RMBS/CMBS/CLO and published to structured product traders and senior CROs. I am helping to bridge the gaps between IT and the business, both in order to efficiently do my work in risk, as well as to inform IT about the business, complex MBS structures, and help them to help us. I’m passionate about solving complex problems where business meets technology - especially where legacy processes can be reimagined through smart data, modern architecture, and user-centered design.
