About Peter Berry

More or less retired after building a track record of success in more than 30 years’ experience in communications and marketing across business, local and central government, and education sectors. Expertise and management and leadership skills resulted in operating at a senior level in organisations working locally, nationally, and internationally. A key partner with several organisations, advising and helping develop their thinking and activities and helping to succesfully set up what is now a leading Academy Trust. As Director of Marketing and Communications for the National College of School Leadership (NCSL) for five years from its inception played a leading role in establishing its reputation and impact both nationally and internationally and was a member of its Leadership Team. Involvement across the range of policy and implementation issues associated with school leadership and education initiatives ensured a depth of understanding of the schools landscape. As well as planning and implementing a series of highly successful campaigns that increased awareness, usage and positive reputation, also led NCSL’s engagement with independent schools.Led the Public Affairs role at NCSL, engaging with politicians, think tanks, policy groups, and special interest groups. Since then, a consultant working with a wide range of clients in the education, government and private sectors. These include managing the Department for Education’s competitions for New Schools across the North of England, and working with the DfE on policy marketing issues. I have also worked on projects for schools, education think tanks, leadership development centres, local and national charities, and a range of businesses who have clients and customers in the education and public sectors.
