About Peter Bouma

During my career at Philips I focused on numerical simulations and experimental techniques within the area of heat and mass transfer to guide and support product design. I worked on many different applications, each with its own fluidic and/or thermal challenges. At the beginning of my career, typical topics were the production of lighting applications, production of televisions and domestic applications. Later, around 2005 to 2013, the focus was on microfluidic devices like lab-on-a-chip, molecular diagnostics and fuel cells. From 2013 to 2020 I was mainly working on topics in the domain of domestic (air) appliances like air purification, humidifiers and personal masks. From 2020 on, projects are related to respiratory applications like oxygen concentrator and facial masks for respiratory applications. Throughout all my career I worked occasionally on thermal management challenges of diagnostics systems like CT, MR and PET-scanners. Specialties: Simulation tools like: Star-ccm+, Matlab, Comsol, etc. Experimental tools like: flow and pressure measurements, temperature measurements, IR-radiation, etc. Way-of-working skills: TRIZ (level 2) and design for six sigma (blackbelt trainee)
