About Peter Calderone

In I commenced a Bachelor of Health Science PDHPE at the University of Western Sydney. During this period I also completed a Fitness Instructor Certificate. I initially held the position of fitness instructor and was then promoted to a fitness manager at lean and fit health clubs. In 2001 I commenced a position as a fitness manager at YMCA and was responsible in setting up policies, procedures, gym membership packages and recruitment.In 2002 I decided on a career change and entered to the disability field where I found my true passion supporting individuals with a disability. I have worked in group homes, day programs, 1-1 community supports, as a team leader and in school leaver employment supports. I have over 20 years experience in rostering, recruitment, performance management, staff training, ndis service agreements, program development & implementation, fleet management & OHS representative. Some of my carer highlights to date are; being invited to be apart of industry working group for certificate 3 & 4 disability course( TAFE), sitting on a national enterprise agreement bargaining committee. Transitioning break thru’s day program to NDIS from block funding, conducting training for staff and families ensuring a smooth transition. Transitioning 10-15 clients from institutions into a day program setting after government shut downs. In 2022 at the age of 45 years old I was diagnosed with ADHD and this sparked my interest in neurodiversity. In July 2023 I commenced a Masters of Autism studies and my journey has began to acquire as much knowledge as I can in this field. I have a keen interest and passion about supporting individuals who are neurodivergent and I am on a mission to increase public awareness and ensure that a neuro-affirming approach is delivered.
