About Peter Carlin

I'm breaking from traditional teaching. I'm currently not in a classroom, not even at the Adult Corrections Facility, but am embarking instead on several new ventures, still deep in education, rehabilitation, and communications. I'm a new volunteer for the Sheriff Dept's Project HOPE (Helping Others by Providing Education), and I'm also producing a podcast about professionalism, in the context of my own personal work experiences, called the Book of Jobs. Meanwhile, I'm driving a forklift at Costco. Having completed my Masters in Education in 2019, I most recently worked as an Advisor and Teacher at an experiential high school, Northwest Passage High School, where in addition to traditional curricula, I took students to see theatre (at both professional and academic levels), conducted storytelling workshops in winter cabins, and took them canoeing in the BWCA (all while finessing the blended learning required during a certain pandemic.) I am currently writing for two blogs, My New Now and Page for the Stage, and working on a play about sexy, swinging seniors. Prior to my teaching career, I'd been a technical writing, message designing, promotion building, media loving producer/director/editor/manager, and theatre adventurer/artist in N.Y, D.C, & L.A. I also sold cable subscriptions & wrote for trade magazines & created fake art for TV shows & cast theater productions & acted in major motion pictures & drove a city bus & . A note to my LinkedIn connections: I use this site primarily for targeted employment assistance. Perhaps I should use it more when I’ve actually found employment as a result, but in my particular vocational circles it isn't quite called for. That’s why I show up here fervently for a few months, once in a while, and then go dormant once again.
