About Peter Carr

I am an academic researcher with a primary focus and interest in vascular access, infusion therapy and systems approach to vascular access. I completed a PhD in vascular access under the supervision of Prof Claire Rickard, Prof Marie Cooke, Dr Niall Higgins (QUT) and Dr James Rippey (UWA) at Griffith University in 2017. I am a PI on the recently published OMGPIVC Study Twitter handle. I hold the Cochrane review title Vascular access specialist teams for insertion of and prevention of vascular access device failure. I have a keen interest in Social Media and its potential to support and promote evidence-based patient care. I developed and registered the Hashtag #FOAMva a concept to share vascular access content. I have clinical expertise for the assessment, insertion and post insertion of vascular access devices. Predominant clinical expertise includes the use of ultrasound for peripheral and central venous catheters.
